Portfolio and process

To give you an idea of how I work and what I can do, take a look at this page.

Portfolio

Access Ambassadors CIC

This website started as a bespoke site for a new Community Interest Company. The principle element of the design brief was to be an exemplar for accessible websites; compliance with international standards and as broad a range of platforms a possible was paramount. However, special consideration was to be given to all forms of communication, including British Sign Language, which is often overlooked.

At the client’s request, the content was migrated to a WordPress site, enabling the client to take a more active hand in content development, whilst I maintained the site and all the background functions.

This was a refresh of an established site for a musical theatre show that has genuine global appeal.

All of the old content was redesigned and reworked and new features were added, including a bespoke e-store, site administration section, and the interactive Show Zone that allows registered users to add their own content to the site.

Process

The saying goes: ‘success breeds success’. I interpret this to mean: Find a process that works and refine it. To do this, I follow the Agile process model.

The key to a successful project is understanding the requirements of the final product. Scope out all the requirements and how important they are. At this stage there can be quite a few questions to make sure that we’re heading off on the right course.

The next stage is the design and content writing. This forms the scale of the project. Often it is at this stage that the initial scope gets adjusted.

Once the design and content are sorted, then we begin the build phase – actually getting content online. Throughout this process you will be able to see the growth of your website. At this stage there may be minor adjustments to the design or content.

After the build comes a period of formal review, where final tweaks are made.

Then the website is ready to launch. If we’ve produced a WordPress site, then I can add some training so that you’re able to manage the content effectively yourself, if that’s what you require. Alternatively, this is a service I can provide as well.
